This is a video that myself and other members of the brigade I was in at the time (around 2007) put together to be played at public events and so on, to demonstrate what sort of activities we got up to and what you could expect to be doing if you joined the NSW Rural Fire Service.

This is a video I made quite a few years ago after being deployed to assist in the Victorian bushfires of 2009. It features stills and video of our deployment including mopping up, back burning, and so on. Please note that some of the statistics mentioned at the start of the video are outdated, as this video was created before final investigations were complete.

Hey there - the real time means that the video speed wasn't made faster or slower - it was in "real time" - but yeah I think it was about 10 years ago that they stopped the trains going all the way into Newcastle - hope that clears things up for you 😊

Good video, pity about the sound of the train, may be it could re-videoed with the sound of the train. You Sydney train drivers are great, you hear the bloke saying, _Door closing, please stand clear! Like in Brisbane, then *ding* then you go, not like i Melbourne, just the horn, nothing else, even Adelaide nothing really, sometime horn, when approaching a level crossing! Doesn't Melbourne and Adelaide Metros have guards like Sydney and Brisbane?

Don't think I've ever seen a platform as short as Wondabyne. How often is that used?
Probably lucky to used 2% of the time, if that. It's only on request. Passengers wanting to board the train will wave at the driver, passengers wanting to alight there have to notify the guard before we get there, the guard then notifies the driver.

I'm sure there are reasons for not letting train Drivers place a camera on the Train. So why don't they just put cameras on the train as an additional revenue thing? In Queensland, the Tilt trains have forward cams, but even here OHS seems paramount besides the economical potential driver cams actually have and how much safer for all in doing so,(Did I mention there's money in driver cams

Thanks for a great video full of lovely bi station names I missed on another much later one. Some of the quality was a bit iffy but basically pretty good. No one is commenting on how slow some of the trip was?

I live in WA now but in the 80’s I used to live in Newcastle. Caught this train many a time brings back memories. Loved the train ride. Sometimes I even dream of it .
This is great, but some commentary would have been good. Even just station names.
This is awesome. I grew up in Dapto and Kiama was a popular holiday spot for my family. I remember taking this train ride in the late 80s on a return trip on a school excursion. After my family moved to W.A in 1989, I'd only had very shaky memories of that lovely route. Thanks for this mate, I was researching the old red rattlers and decided to look up my old train station in Dapto when I stumbled across this vid.
